Welcome to Stephens' Studio where I teach violin and viola lessons to busy kids from busy families. 

But why Mrs. Stephens?  Experience and understanding.  After 30 years of private teaching, I know MANY string players are high achievers which allows me to teach them efficiently using explanations involving math, science, anatomy, psychology etc. so that they learn how to help themselves learn more independently and more quickly.  As a high school orchestra director, (Junior High School for ten years as well) I am aware of the stresses kids are under, and I help them navigate through that anxiety with a mix of humor, compassion and wisdom. I know my students are busy and that violin/viola is only one part of their life, yet the lessons they learn from working hard and progressing on their instruments are lessons that have carryover into the rest of their subjects.  Students who study with me enjoy their progress and are proud of their achievements. 

Some of my students go on to have careers in music, but most of them play for the enjoyment and challenge. I help students catch up if they feel they have fallen behind.  I also help students that are bored or want to get ahead.  I am happy to prepare students for solo festivals, orchestra auditions, college auditions or to play for their family or community at their religious services.
